HR Business Partner (HRPB)

“HR business partners” (HRBPs) are people professionals. They work closely with the business areas of an organization to continuously empower its people capabilities. Their mandate captures the needs of people; it also prioritizes, plans, and refines the talent development approaches that maximize business outcomes. They are at the frontline of today’s talent strategy—representing the fastest-growing role in a given profession and, in many organizations, the most pivotal. 

A great HRBP must demonstrate several qualities, including an ability to:

  • Balance strategy and execution

  • Have an intimate understanding of the business challenges their team is working to solve

  • Reframe those challenges through the lenses of talent and employee experience

  • Ask great questions

  • Design creative solutions
