Skills Ontology

A “Skills ontology” identifies and distinguishes relationships within the skills found in an organization. Oftentimes found hand in hand with a skills taxonomy, a skills ontology focuses on specifying skill relationships rather than naming and grouping them. Skills Ontology builders are HR tools that help identify the trending skills in a company by looking at data among employees. They infer skills by looking at job experiences, performance reviews, learning patterns, and the resumes of high performers. So they are, in a sense, the internal “Google Search Engine” for skills within a company.
