Organization Design
“Organization design” is a discipline to design an organization’s business model, operating model, work models, job architecture, and organizational structure.
In the 1970s, Jay Galbraith—considered by many to be the father of organization design—developed the Star Model, which essentially showed that structure is only one part of organization design and that rewards, culture, job design, and processes are all important. Today our research shows that great organization design is agile and accountable; it’s continuous and business integrated; it creates clarity and productivity; and it encourages the growth of individuals and businesses.
