Matrix Organization

“Matrix organizations” are defined as organizational structures where individuals and teams report to multiple leaders. While the functional leaders may remain consistent, project leaders frequently change. This change depends on what project or level of project an employee is working on. In a matrix organization, people get work done in teams; however, the teams change as new projects and priorities surface.
