Deskless Worker/Workforce

“Deskless workers” are workers who need to do their work at a specific workplace, not from anywhere. Industries such as healthcare, hospitality, retail, manufacturing, transportation, energy & resources, and distribution have mostly deskless employees.

Due to the nature of their work, deskless workers need specific communication channels, digital tools, support for commute, financial wellbeing support, and other requirements that are different to their (usually deskbound) managers and HR people.

During the pandemic, deskless workers were often referred to as “essential,”  but the recent hype for hybrid work left them behind because they don’t have a choice in from where to do their work.
