Content Management System
“Learning content management system” (LCMS) is a software category that was created in 2002 to solve the problem of unmanageably huge amounts of digital learning content in every organization, big or small. An LCMS is a content management, development, and delivery system, whereas an LMS is a learning administration and reporting system. Both platforms allow an organization to host and deliver digital learning, and both are SCORM compatible (a set of technical standards for eLearning products), but they are different in the core purpose they serve.LLCMS platforms integrate authoring, delivery, publishing, and analysis of digital learning content. It provides content managers a way to manage their content and collaborate in one centralized location.
The primary function of a learning management system (LMS) is to administer, assign, track, and access formal learning content. It is not designed to create or manage content assets.
