The “Chief Human Resources Officer” (CHRO) is the senior-most leader of the HR function of a company. Sometimes, this role is also referred to by other titles such as the Chief People Officer, the SVP of HR, or Chief Culture and Capability Officer.

With the advent of Systemic HR™, the role of the CHRO has fundamentally changed. Previously, CHROs were mostly inward focused on leading the HR team and function, being recognized for their deep HR expertise, and being responsive to the needs of the business. The new CHRO is a proactive, consultative business leader, well respected for their business insights and acumen, and functioning as a C-suite leader equal to the CIO or CFO.

This change in role also requires new capabilities, more business experience, and the ability to build significantly different and deeper relationships across the C-suite.
